Sudan Outreach – Day 4: Live scans and fool

As I write this blog, I beam with pride for each and every one of the trainees perseverance, dedication and most importantly the improvement in their ultrasound skills.
Day 4 started off with an interesting case presented by Dr Ahmed Abdelkarim demonstrating how the use of ultrasound can decrease mortality rates and a presentation by Dr Sami Mahmoud on the placenta.

Thereafter there was a very low number of patients and the team decided to set up a live scanning session for all trainees where a twin pregnancy and a patient with Spina Bifida were scanned.

As the patient numbers increased, trainees were once again divided into their groups and trainees focused on improving and mastering their skills.
The day ended off with a lecture by the team leader Prof Hisham Mirghani on  ultrasound and Labour.

The evening ended off with the opening ceremony of the paediatric conference and a delicious traditional Sudanese dinner.
