Day 4 – more scanning, and group photos!

Another successful day has been wrapped up. Dr Abuhamad has told us the following from today:

“We just ended the day – day 4 of training, quite tired as we scanned a lot of patients today. We started the morning with a review of the ultrasound machine and how to download images on the USB for external review. This was followed by live scanning at 5 stations until about 1 :30 pm local time.

Lots of hands-on scanning practice makes perfect.

A short lunch break was followed by case presentations and a lecture on non-Ob/Gyn uses of ultrasound.”

We’re glad to be able to expand our ultrasound teaching to areas beyond OB-GYN, as we know that these skills are sorely needed on the ground.

We also heard from Ms Edna Adan Ismail, who is hosting the training at her hospital, the Edna Adan University Hospital. ISUOG has been working with Edna for months now, planning this training, and we are thoroughly inspired by her actions. Here is what she had to say about the ISUOG project:

“The teams arrived and started training as soon as they arrived. They are a great team and the participants are very enthusiastic.

I am happy that it all worked out and look forward to further training sessions for Somaliland at our hospital.

The machines are working well and am sure will be put to good use.

With best regards and appreciation.”

Thank you for your kind words, Edna, we look forward to continue working with you, too!

The trainees and the trainers got a chance to take some group pictures between classes.
